Hello Irish NA members,
The World Service Conference (WSC) is taking place in L.A. in the United States of America in April, 2016. The World Service Conference is described as “the one time and place where all of our World Services come together…..Every two years, regional delegates, the members of the World Board, and the executive director of the World Service Office meet to discuss questions of significance to the Fellowship of Narcotics Anonymous as a whole”.
In order to gather information from the fellowship the 2016 Conference Agenda Report (CAR) is posted at http://www.na.org/?ID=conference-index for free download for all members to view. The online version is password protected; the user name is wsc2016, and the password is CP2016. The CAR has information and motions on issues that will be discussed at the conference and we are inviting members of the Irish region to participate in the discussions before the regional delegate team travel to the Conference to share the conscience of the Irish Region.
Please read the 2016 Conference Agenda Tally Sheet enclosed here pages 53 – 54 in the CAR document. There are also four videos of the CAR with Power Point presentations intended to help in the review of this document. We encourage anyone interested to visit http://www.na.org/?ID=conference-index
The CAR also contains two World Board motions – the approval draft of Guiding Principles: The Spirit of Our Traditions, as an addendum to this CAR which is also available to view at http://www.na.org/?ID=conference-index under the link 2016 CAR Material. We hope it will go a long way in helping members to discuss, understand, and practice the Twelve Traditions in NA, in service, and in our lives.
The second motion is to approve several changes in the World Board External Guidelines relating to the size of the Board, term limits, etc. Then there are twelve regional motions which are briefly explained in the Tally Sheets sent with this note.
Lastly there is a literature survey form enclosed (pages 55-56 CAR document) which we hope to get a sense of the Fellowships priorities for recovery literature, service material and Issue Discussion Topics. It’s important that members are given an opportunity to have a voice in NA – this is your opportunity.
If you are a GSR, or an interested member, you could print these off and bring them to your group for discussion at a group business meeting, or group conscience. Then you can attend your local area committee and pass on any votes, concerns or whatever to be relayed to our Delegate Team. It will however be useful if you have the time to read the full text in the CAR surrounding all the motions.
The regional delegate team are holding a CAR (Conference Agenda Report) Workshop in Bachelors Walk, Dublin on Sunday January 24th 12 noon for those who are interested in the future of NA. The CAR has information and motions on issues that will be discussed at the World Service Conference and we are inviting members of the Irish region to participate in the discussions before the regional delegate team travel to the Conference to share the conscience of the Irish Region.
A second date is the 27th February where a Regional Assembly will be held in Drogheda from 10.30am – 6pm in Red Door Project, Old Fatima School, Dublin Road, Drogheda.
Please try and attend as the future of NA depends on the feedback from the fellowship and you are the fellowship.
